The Hypertensive disorders Equitably Addressed with Remote Technology for Birthing People (HEART-BP) Investment Program awardee profiles provide an overview of the five awardee sites’ care models and highlight their health equity approaches and quality improvement strategies to improve access to care, experience of care, and outcomes for birthing people experiencing hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
In this annual report for 2025, the HPC presents new research to enhance the collective understanding of health care spending trends and cost drivers and evaluates progress in meeting the Commonwealth’s cost containment, care delivery, and payment system goals.
This issue of the HPC’s DataPoints series identifies pharmacy deserts – communities without convenient access to a pharmacy and the medication and services they provide – across the state, as well as “near-deserts” – communities that are vulnerable to becoming pharmacy deserts.

This video highlights the work of the Moving Massachusetts Upstream (MassUP) Investment Program and focuses on HEAL Winchendon - one of the four awardee partnerships granted HPC funds to support health care provider organizations and community organization partners (such as CBOs, municipalities, and schools) working to address the social determinants of health and root causes of health inequities in food security and economic stability.

The Hypertensive Disorders Equitably Addressed with Remote Technology for Birthing People (HEART-BP) Investment Program provides funding for five health care providers across Massachusetts working to address racial, ethnic, and geographic inequities in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy through the use of patient-centered remote blood pressure monitoring technology.
