Careers

Thank you for your interest in a career with the Health Policy Commission. Since its inception in 2012, the HPC has been dedicated to building the infrastructure and capacity to fulfill its mission, hiring the most talented staff, and providing those individuals with a stimulating and enjoyable work environment. Our staff values collaboration, community, excellence, and transparency, and believes strongly in our mission to make health care more affordable, effective, and equitable. The HPC is a dynamic, independent organization, on the forefront of health care policy and cost containment in Massachusetts. Every day we are embarking on groundbreaking research projects, embracing new work authorized by the state Legislature and the HPC’s Board, and developing first in-the-nation policy and programs on behalf of the residents of the Commonwealth.

  • Fostering a work environment in which all employees are inspired to do their best, strengthened by their different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences

Fellowship Program

The annual Health Policy Commission (HPC) Summer Fellowship Program has dual goals of helping to achieve the Commonwealth’s health care reform and cost containment goals while simultaneously providing hands-on educational opportunities to the next generation of health policy leaders. Each year, the Fellowship Program affords students the opportunity to engage in a ten-week, stand-alone policy or research project within one of the HPC’s departments. As temporary full-time employees, fellows work closely with their supervisors to ensure they meet project benchmarks, deliver key presentations, and meet deadlines.

Applicants to this highly competitive program must be enrolled in a full-time master’s, PhD, law, or medical program. The application period opens in late December, and the opportunity will be posted under ‘Open Positions’ on this page. The program generally runs from Early June through mid-August.

To learn more about the program, including completed projects and reflections from fellows, please review the HPC’s Summer Fellowship Program Reports.
